President Obama's Proposed Healthcare Plan

President Obama explained during the course of his campaign that he had a new system of healthcare in mind. This was a controversial issue with the election, and it will be interesting to see what exactly his healthcare plan looks like when and if it is passed. All we know now is what he has proposed so far, and that, according to his website, would not really change much for people who are content with their health insurance presently. It does, however, offer more options for those looking for something new.

His plan includes requiring insurance to cover pre-existing conditions and also incorporating a small-business tax credit to help them provide more affordable insurance to their employees. They will also subsidize some of the catastrophic health costs that some businesses pay so that the companies can pay lower premiums.

The plan will also focus on preventive care and public health, as a significant investment in preventive medicine will go a long way toward reducing healthcare costs. President Obama also proposes to import lower-cost, approved drugs from other countries to keep pharmacy costs down.

He says that the plan would reduce costs for the average American family by as much as $2,500 annually. There has been much debate about the benefits of nationalizing healthcare, and the reality is that we will not know exactly what to expect until some piece of legislation is passed.
